The league awards have finally been released and 316 awards have been given to the players in Section Five so far this year. (The AGR list will come out within a month). 65 Finger Lakes players received 69 awards, 23 GRALL players received 31 awards and Penn Yan, who is independent had 4 players receiving All Tournament awards. In the Monroe County League 69 players in Division I received 82 awards, 71 players in Division II received 84 awards and 46 players in Division III each received an award.

All three Section Five teams defeated the champions form Section Six today at Canisius College in Buffalo. Irondequoit was first up with a 3:30 game in Class B and they won 8-4 over Hamburg who finish their season at 17-3.

There were fifteen games in Section Five today, as the regular season is winding down. Fairport hosted Pittsford and defeated the Panthers 13-5. Penfield defeated visiting Penn Yan 9-6, East Rochester beat Spencerport 11-10 and Bloomfield-Honeoye beat Mynderse 15-14.

James Sturnick scored in overtime to give McQuaid Jesuit an 8-7 victory at Pittsford. Penfield took a won goal, 9-8 win from Schroeder and Waterloo won a 13-12 game from Mynderse. The rest of the fifteen games in the Section were not so close.

The 'Lil Irish came back, late in the fourth quarter to force overtime where they defeated Haverling-Haverling in overtime this afternoon at Aquinas. Penfield held off a fired-up Rush-Henrietta and won their game 13-12 in regulation.

There were fifteen games played today in Section Five, a couple of close ones but mostly mismatches. Eastridge won their first game of the season using double overtime to defeat the Thunder 11-10. East Rochester beat Newark 8-7. All the other games were won by six goals.

A strong fourth quarter gave McQuaid Jesuit an 8-7 win over Penn Yan. James Sturnick dodged across the middle for the winning goal. In other action HFL defeated Churchville-Chili 9-8, Spencerport beat the Thunder 9-7, Pal-Mac won a 9-8 game with Midlakes.

In other action Livonia won their game with Haverling in overtime, McQuaid Jesuit beat Aquinas 13-8 and Churchville-Chili beat Hilton in a close one (9-7).

Fairport beat Schroeder 9-8, Thomas beat Pittsford 10-8, Canandaigua beat Brighton 15-7 and Irondequoit was a 12-5 winner over McQuaid Jesuit. In the other Class C game, Penn Yan defeated Geneva 9-7.

With a major change in the NYS Class alignments, Canandaigua and Irondequoit move to Class B, making that class much more challenging, while maintaining that exciting rivalry. Geneva and Aquinas, who have, in the past, elected to move up from Class C, now like the idea of taking on Penn Yan instead of CA and IQ.

There was lots of action on Thursday with many league games. Winners today included Irondequoit, Churchville-Chili, Fairport, Penfield, Haverling, Victor, Canandaigua, Geneva, Penn Yan Athena/Odyssey, Thomas, and McQuaid Jesuit, who won in Buffalo against St. Francis. Close games included Eastridge over Brighton (6-5) and Penfield over Schroeder.
